Chen Wei encapsulates feelings of claustrophobia, anxiety, fear, and depression with his interiors of woeful solitude. The lone figure is trapped within his own psychological world, unable to liberate himself from the nightmare due to external pressures. Influenced by social context and surroundings, Chen Wei expresses the unawareness of our own mental state. His dark sense of humor is prominent throughout this series of unpredictable staging of props and scenery, a cynical metaphor symbolizing the ruinous and desolate internal self.
