LU Mingjun, Ph.D. in History, is currentlyAssociate Professor of Art History at Art College, Sichuan University. Lu’sresearch interests include history of modern and contemporary Chinese art, andart historiography in Europe and America since the 1960s. Exhibitions hecurated include “The Being of Non-Being: A Kind of Personal Expression on‘Meta-Painting’” (2013), “Stereognosis Zone” (2015), “Unlawfully Constructed” (2015),etc.. His theses were found in Literature& Art Studies, Art Studies, 21st Century, Artforum, Leap, etc.. Hisrecent books include Visual Cognition and Art History: Michel Foucault, Hubert Damisch, Jonathan Crary (2014); and On Meta-Painting: An Art Institution andCognition of Universality (2015); The Poetics of Gaze: Visual Culture, ArtHistory and the Contemporary (forthcoming). Since 2015, he held the post ofartistic director of Surplus Space. He was also the Robert H. N. Ho FamilyFoundation Greater China Research Grant 2015 Grantee. He received the 2016Yishu Awards for Writing on Contemporary Chinese Art.
