WORLD IN DAZE. WOMEN IN WIND (solo)
EXHIBITION SYNOPSISAbout World in daze. Women in wind
Wind flicks the eyes, and makes women intoxicated.
She could be him, and could also be her.
Open her and her inner concealed compartment, every city is a woman in the dazing world.
From directing to photographing, and moving-frame to freeze-frame, Susie Au always adheres to her distinctive style, which is teased as “moving, shaking and dimming” and “wind, smoke and fire”. For artists, style is not only a pattern of manifestation, but a mental outlook. The wind-shaking tree and fantasy image of the “World in daze, Women in wind” is the dazing world that people look in which man's smile, movement and eye expression, no matter longing or indifferent, nature is still calm, and the silence of tree shadow and the harshness of the moon form a polarization contrast with the state of human being. The camera lens of Susie Au stares at this world from a universal perspective, penetrating women’s inner heart through heaven and earth. The emotion and love of people are surging, and the world responds them with clouds and light. Susie Au opens the inner concealed compartment of every person in the image of “moving, shaking and dimming”, hearing the cosmic pounding heartbeat.
Susie Au said that she never PS. Art is the re-creation of eye on the world and soul agitating, and the sense of movement of the camera shutter "click". A series of second touch is presented in the “World in daze, Women in wind”: a strange woman passes by, and a blowing gust of wind whiffles her hair. Car shadows overlapping lamp shadows, she stares at the distant, longing something or remembering something? Click, and her gaze and desire are shot, which goes on forever. Can these second touch and eternity be expressed only through down-to-earth and color-bright high definition display after PS? Susie Au says: “I, an old school, have always believed that photography is pure, and if the color of the film fades away and becomes uneven, just let it go.”
The “World in daze, Women in wind” presents two states of the image: film and digital. The film photography part is from the 1980s to 2000, and the digital photography is after 2000, a total 61 pieces of work, which repeatedly render Susie Au’s world exploration when taking women as the first person. Lens spins around in the black hole of endless sky, which makes people faint and the second induction of the image is the warmest touch in coldness.
